Looking at that cute face and smile you would think she would be excited about nursery...
but the following picture truly describes her first day in nursery. Even though she was crying to go outside this is exactly what she did in nursery. We let her cry it out for a little bit and then Kevin stayed with her the rest of the time. Luke and Katelyn went to nursery so easily, but we knew Ashley would have a hard time. She is still such a momma's girl.
This is an image I see all day long. :) It's a good thing she is cute!
Ashley's highlights and maybe a few lowlights ;) at 18 months...
- talks a ton and will copy almost any word we say to her (Luke loves to have her repeat words after he says them. He loves to tell everyone he taught her how to talk.)
- she can say some short phrases
- just started saying "thank you" and it sounds so cute
- she can be very polite and says "scuse me" after she burps (she has been doing this for awhile and it still makes me smile each time she says it)
- mimics everything we do
- loves purses and putting things inside them
- loves to be outside
- she's a climber (This is new to me because Luke and Katelyn were never climbers. It is a whole other ball game trying to keep track of her and what she might be standing on.)
- wants to do everything Katelyn does (which doesn't always make Katelyn happy) and gets mad if she can't do it
- likes to hit and scratch :( and it hurts
- knows what to do for timeout
- likes to shut doors
- likes to pretend to go potty on the toilet (because she sees Katelyn doing it)
- LOVES to color and will often say "I color"
- still learning to color only on paper
- sings "Happy Birthday", "Popcorn Popping", and "Ring around the Rosies"
- cries whenever I leave even if she is with daddy
- sleeps well at night and most days will take a good afternoon nap
- loves to play in the toy kitchen and "help" me in the real kitchen
- likes to watch Hi-5 with Katelyn and dance
- doesn't like sitting in the cart at the grocery store anymore
- sometimes has an opinion about what she wears-i finally made her a cute tutu and was hoping to get a picture of her in it, but no such luck. I'm still determined to try and get a picture and it may just have to be a crying picture.
- She is still very attached to her "dinky" and asks for it all the time. I need to get brave and take it away during the day.
- She calls Luke "wuke" and Katelyn "Ka-ten"
She definitely keeps us on our toes with her spunky personality. We love our Ashley and have had fun watching her change so much in the last 18 months.
Her stats:
23 lbs. 14 oz.
32 inches tall

What a cute girl! I loved reading all about her. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has problems with kids learning to color only on paper. Thank goodness we have touch-up paint! I love her tutu. Even a crying picture would be adorable in that!;)
We love miss Ashley!!! That tutu is adorable Jess, great job! I loved looking at all the pics and learning what Ashley is up to these days. Makes me miss your kids! (and you too:)
18 months already? that went by fast - at least for me it did. Having the kids go to nursery was such a great day for me. Although my kids are the same as Ashley and cried the whole time. She is so darling. Tell her she can come help me in my kitchen anytime she wants!
She is so cute. Reading all of that reminded me of Logan. He does so many of the same things as she does. But he doesn't cry in nursery anymore so give her a few months and hopefully she'll go in happily.
What an adorable girl - and I LOVE the tutu! SO CUTE! And YAY for getting her into nursery. What a relief it will be for you when she is transitioned.
For the binky, I don't know if you are ready to get rid of it at night yet, but Megan and Emma were both HUGE binky girls. What worked for me with both of them was to snip off the very end of the pacifier nipple, without saying anything about it to them. Both girls brought their binkies to me saying they were "broken" and that was pretty much that. I was amazed by how low drama it turned out to be.
ashley is so cute. i'm sure it gets tiring that she is a momma's girl, but you gotta appreciate it now cause she won't always be that way....right? :) or at least that's what you can tell yourself to get through it.
the tutu is SO cute! and i'm sure was much cheaper to make than those ones you saw that were a million dollars.
She is darling, but probably exhausting for you to keep up with. And she is growing up so fast! Maybe she will be the one who is really easy to potty train. All too soon, she will be waving goodbye at the kindergarten door; and you will be wishing she were still the cute "mommy's girl" she is now.
Nursery - what a wonderful invention! Unless, of course you happen to be a Nursery Leader like me :) Who cares about taking away the binky - I say, pick your battles and let her have it! Tanner still has his (16 months) and I honestly just don't care. Then again, Lacey refuses to use the potty and not remotely close to being potty trained (2 yrs, 9 months), so maybe my lax attitude is causing developmental delays!
Awww, she's so CUTE! and that tutu you made is cute, too!
I can't believe she is already 18 months old!! What a cutie! That is an adorable tutu:)
She is the cutes thing ever Jess.. She look like she gets around the playground really good still makes me nerves to watch Braden do all of that. About the Binkie Braden still used to sleep .
Loved this post, Jess! Didn't know you had posted---I need to keep better track of things. Ashley is looking so much older than she did in July!! What a cutie. I loved the tutu---way to go!
